Buying criteria: factors that allow you to compare and rate the different models of children’s pouffes

Our secret to making a top-notch purchase is not as complicated as it sounds, nor is it locked away in a vault. It’s all about using our knowledge about children’s pouffes to our advantage. If you consider the following aspects before you buy them, you are guaranteed a quality product.

Manufacturing materials

If there is one thing that marks the quality and durability of a product, it is the materials they are made of, not to mention the workmanship. For this reason, the materials are one of the first things you should think about before buying a pouffe for children, taking into account that they have soft coverings such as plush.

Nylon – Nylon is undoubtedly the strongest and most resistant material for making pouffes for children and adults. This textile is not only able to withstand high temperatures, but it also has the ability to be waterproof, drying very quickly. As not everything is perfect, this synthetic polymer is the most expensive.

Polyester – This material has the ability to stretch without deforming, i.e. it returns to its first state, making it ideal for this furniture. It repels moisture, keeping harmful bacteria away from children, while resisting heat. Highly used in pouffes and is less expensive than nylon.

Vinyl (PVC) – This plastic derivative is a versatile material that in the world of children’s pouff is used to create the famous inflatable furniture. It is highly resistant to heat and is totally water repellent. However, it does have problems with punctures as it is prone to tearing when stretched.

Filling

There is nothing more special about a children’s pouffe than the stuffing it is made of because that’s where the magic really happens. If pouffes weren’t stuffed as they are they would end up being any other kind of furniture. Definitely another thing to consider before buying them.

Expandable polystyrene – EPS or expandable polystyrene is the best filling for children’s pouffes. Not only do they mould better to their bodies, they are also hypoallergenic, antibacterial, and non-flammable. Higher quality pouffes often have it and you can even buy bags of it separately.

Recyclable polyurethane – Recyclable polyurethane is another great option. It is the most durable of all the fillings, although it is also one of the most expensive. It moulds fairly well to the body and is anti-bacterial, the downside is that it is flammable.

Air / Paper strips – Some of the children’s pouffes have an air filling when it comes to inflatable pouffes, and this does not mould to the child’s body. A cheap option for stuffing is paper strips, although they do not mould to the body and are of very low quality, they are not recommended at all, beware!

Size

The dimensions of children’s pouffes are another very important factor when it comes to buying them. If you don’t want to spend too much money on adult size, we recommend that you know the measurements of the children who will use it and buy it accordingly.

From 1 to 3 years old – Younger children will need a piece of furniture to fit them. The sizes of children’s pouffe most suitable for these ages are 50 x 50 x 90 cm up to 55 x 55 x 100 cm. Remember that this can vary in position, depending on whether it is a pear, sofa or pillow design.

From 4 to 11 years old – Children who can already stand up for themselves in terms of their motor skills can use a puff with dimensions between 60 x 60 x 60 x 100 cm and 80 x 80 x 120 cm. As above, it all depends on the design of the puff, although these are general measurements.

Design and appearance

When a product is decorative it is not enough to choose a comfortable and good-sized one, you also need that element of appearance and design that increases our happiness and improves the room or the exterior where it will be placed. The best thing is that here you can give yourself life by choosing the one you like the most without thinking about anything else.

Consider the type of children’s pouffe you will buy. If it’s a pear, armchair or pillow, will you use it outdoors? Is an inflatable or waterproof one better? Better in the child’s room? Vibrant colours, personalised with your children’s name, you choose where and how – bring joy to your children, yourself, and your home!
